Lindsay Edwards, LPC, BC-DMT, PMH-C
Lindsay is a licensed psychotherapist (LPC) certified by Postpartum Support International as a PMH-C and by the American Dance/movement Therapy Association as a BC-DMT. She is a member of The American Society of Reproductive Medicine - Mental Health Professional Group (ASRM-MHPG) .
After all clinical rotations during her graduate training at Drexel University, Lindsay was awarded the "Most Excellence in Clinical Work for Dance/movement Therapy". Lindsay previously Directed a Creative Arts Therapies Department and practiced as a trauma-informed therapist in urban Community Mental Health. At MWC, Lindsay specializes in couples therapy, especially for those struggling with their partnership amongst parenting. Lindsay additionally excels with perinatal anxiety/OCD/panic; perinatal stressors unique to LGBTQIA families; infertility; trauma reactions emerging in parenting due to a traumatic birth or due to the resurfacing of childhood trauma; coping with child-free stigma; exploring whether or not to become a parent; and therapy for dads.
Lindsay teams with clients to find creative and committed ways to kindle healing and design sustainable wellness. In sessions Lindsay likes to create a culture of groundedness, safety, humor, creativity, open-mindedness, insight-gathering, growth-seeking, practicality, and deep trustworthiness. Lindsay uses a variety of therapeutic techniques. For example, she may explore how one's family of origin impacts current relationship dynamics. Lindsay can utilize mind/body and art-based practices to heal past trauma, alleviate current anxiety and learn how to change nervous system responses. Maybe workbooks are used for clients who benefit from psychoeducation and practical tasks to improve coping skills or communication strategies. Lindsay highly values her training in anti-oppressive, inclusive and anti-racist approaches to therapy. Given the impact of systems on health, Lindsay will work with other providers in clients' lives and assist clients in navigating healthcare barriers while problem-solving how to strengthen a client's community and social health.
