Lauren Purvis, MA, LPC, ATR-BC

Lauren is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC). She received her MA in Art Therapy with Counseling Specialization from Seton Hill University in 2008. Lauren has received advanced clinical training through Postpartum Support International, and is working toward their newly established Certification in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C)She is passionate about supporting parents experiencing a wide range of challenges throughout their reproductive and postpartum journey, and couples and families who are navigating the demands of parenthood or grief. Lauren’s approach is person-centered and holistic; she appreciates a multi-modal treatment approach that is tailored to an individual’s unique needs. Art-making is utilized based on client interest, and clients require no prior art experience. Lauren integrates psychodynamic theories, cognitive behavioral techniques, and mindfulness into her practice with the goal of resolving emotional conflicts, challenging unwanted thoughts, and gaining self-awareness, self-compassion, and resiliency. Lauren is adept at creating a safe and non-judgmental space in which individuals can explore and connect with their true self, so they can experience life with more authenticity, balance, and joy. Lauren’s special areas of interest include anxiety and depression, grief and loss, codependency, elder care, identity formation and transitioning to parenthood, co-parenting, single-parenting by choice, and reproductive/birth trauma.
